Infants
Gentle, nurturing care fostering early development for babies 6 weeks to 24 months.
Infants and Toddlers: 0 to 24mo
Ratio 1:4
The goal for our infants and toddlers is to create a home away from home environment. Our program enables each child to maintain a similar daily structure to what they are doing at home. We respect that little ones each have their own sleeping and feeding schedule and we provide nurturing care to support their individual needs.
Daily activities may include the following:
Story time, singing with teachers, finger painting, water play, instrument exploration, outside play time, and more.
Preschool: 2 yrs to 4 yrs or until potty trained.
Ratio 1:10* (State standard 1:12)
Our Preschool program is a smaller adaptation of our Pre-K program. We understand that our younger friends are very busy and are primarily focusing on social interactions within their peer group. We also understand that they are still learning the concepts of personal vs. shared space and have the need to use their whole bodies to play!
Activities and Centers:
Our Preschool program follows the Pre-K’s daily schedule with adapted circle times, rhythm and movement activities, and age appropriate creative art activities. Centers are designed to allow multiple children to play together and offer the following play areas: dramatic play, blocks & building, train table, creative arts, and a cozy reading corner.
Pre-K: 4 yrs to 5 yrs
Ratio 1:10* (State standard 1:12)
Our indoor space is designed to flow naturally. Each center provides the space and materials for children to play independently or within a small group. Each learning center such as reading, blocks & building, math & manipulatives, science, language arts, creative arts and dramatic play will be filled with materials inspired by each theme to maximize learning opportunities. Children are able to choose a center of their choice and are encouraged to express themselves in a variety of ways. This includes learning creative expression through art, music & dance, and self expression through conflict resolution & problem solving with respect to both the materials and their peers. Teachers interact with the children by teaching specific lessons about the theme and also by offering encouragement to extend the children’s natural play.
Kindergarten Prep:
In addition to our preschool activities it is our goal to work with each pre-k child to accomplish the skills outlined in the ChicoUSD Kindergarten Readiness Skills list. We understand that each child learns at their own pace and in their own style. We provide opportunities to practice the ChicoUSD skills through our fun and safe activities.
